PICO 4

PICO 4 is the last-gen pancake standalone people still own.

In short

PICO 4 is the last-gen pancake standalone people still own. Same 2160×2160 / 105° class as Ultra; older chip, 8 GB, Wi-Fi 6, narrower IPD range, 16 MP-class RGB talk in launch copy vs Ultra’s 32 MP seethrough spec. OS version on the spec page may be stale.

Who it is for

  • Owners comparing PICO 4 to Ultra or to Quest 3 / 3S / 2 using PICO’s own spec URL.
  • Regional leftover shoppers outside the US Quest-default story.

Who should skip it

  • US buyers expecting an Amazon-style current PICO 4 storefront — launch newsroom was Europe + later Asia. Confirm region.
  • People who need Ultra’s 12 GB, Wi-Fi 7, and 32 MP seethrough spec rows.

Key differentiators

  • Still a pancake 2160×2160 / 105° / 20.6 PPD sheet — the Ultra jump is compute, RAM, radios, cameras, IPD floor, and charger watts.
  • 8 GB + 128/256 GB; XR2 Gen1; Wi-Fi 6; BT 5.1; 5300 mAh; 20W.
  • IPD 62–72 mm (Ultra is 58–72 mm).

Caveats

  • Weight: spec sheet silent; newsroom 295 g **without strap**. Do not present 295 g as a full-kit mass.
  • PICO OS 5.0 is what the spec page still prints. It may have updated in the field — say so.
  • No hands-on testing.

VR-category specs

Same rows on every headset hub (Vision Pro, Quest, Galaxy XR, PICO, PS VR2). FOV, weight, and battery cells quote the manufacturer footnote — they are not lab measurements.

Overview

PICO 4 remains a hub because people still own it. Ultra does not retire this URL. China-region eye/face sibling: /vr/pico-4-pro/ (CN specs; global English URL 404). Last-gen DP SKU: /vr/pico-neo3-link/.

Spec sheet vs newsroom

Use the spec URL for chip, storage, display, FOV, IPD, battery mAh, radios, OS print. Use the newsroom only where the spec sheet is silent (295 g without strap, 16MP RGB, launch £/€). Label the source on the row.

Display and FOV

Same 2160×2160 / 105° / 20.6 PPD class as Ultra. Refresh 72/90 (Ultra specs captured this pass list 90 as the headline Hz).

Frequently asked questions

How much does PICO 4 weigh?

The spec sheet does not say. PICO’s launch newsroom says 295 g without the strap. We will not invent a strapped total.

Is Ultra just more pixels?

No. Both list 2160×2160 and 105°. Ultra’s published deltas are chip, RAM, storage SKU, Wi-Fi 7, cameras, IPD floor, battery mAh, and 45W charging.

US availability?

Not confirmed on a PICO US URL this pass. The 2022 newsroom launched Europe first.
