Apple Vision Pro (M5)
Current Vision Pro is the M5 unit (A3416), not a product named “Vision Pro 2.” Buy it for visionOS spatial computing, Micro-OLED density, and eye/hand input — not for a Quest-style game catalog or a published FOV degree.

In short
Current Vision Pro is the M5 unit (A3416), not a product named “Vision Pro 2.” Buy it for visionOS spatial computing, Micro-OLED density, and eye/hand input — not for a Quest-style game catalog or a published FOV degree. The M2 (A2117) hub stays live; Apple’s weight lines are not the same configuration.
Who it is for
- Buyers who want Apple’s current spatial computer (visionOS, Optic ID, spatial video, Mac/iPhone stack) and will pay flagship money for Micro-OLED plus eye/hand/voice input.
- M2 Vision Pro owners who specifically want the M5 Support deltas: 120 Hz, longer OEM battery table (2.5 / 3 hours), Dual Knit Band in box, 40W adapter, AirPlay up to 1080p.
- People who will use supported spatial accessories (Logitech Muse, PlayStation VR2 Sense) as listed on the M5 Support page — not as a PS5 game machine.
Who should skip it
- Anyone shopping a standalone game library at a few hundred dollars. That job is Quest 3 / 3S, not Vision Pro.
- Buyers who need a published FOV in degrees. Apple’s spec sheets do not state a degree number; do not invent one.
- Users under 13. Apple’s specs/store pages state users must be 13 years or older.
- Anyone comparing weight to M2 as a raw 150 g jump. The M5 weight sentence includes Light Seal and Dual Knit Band; the M2 sentence is a different configuration footnote.
Key differentiators
- M5 + R1: 10-core CPU (4 super + 6 efficiency), 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 16GB unified, 153GB/s; R1 at 12 ms photon-to-photon and 256GB/s.
- Refresh includes 120 Hz (M2 Support lists 90 / 96 / 100 Hz only).
- Battery table: up to 2.5 hours general use, 3 hours video; usable while charging. Separate battery 353 g.
- In box: Dual Knit Band and 40W Dynamic Power Adapter (M2 box: Solo Knit + Dual Loop + 30W USB-C).
Caveats
- Every battery, latency, and pixel line is an Apple claim. GadgetShowdown has not worn or measured this headset.
- apple.com/specs on write day describes the M5 unit (120 Hz, 1080p AirPlay). Do not mix M2 Support 117810 numbers into this slug.
- Apple product photography is not hosted here.
- FOV degrees are not on the cited Apple pages. Passthrough “PPD vs 23M pixels” winners are not OEM facts.

Overview
Apple Vision Pro (M5) is the 2025 spatial computer. Apple’s Identify-your-model page gives it model A3416 and keeps the 2024 unit as Apple Vision Pro (M2) A2117. Both are still called Vision Pro. This slug is the M5 hub only.
The public path is /vr/apple-vision-pro-m5/. The first spec table is vr-v1 — display, FOV claim, chip, storage, controllers, PC tether, IPD, weight, passthrough — the same keys belong on every later VR hub. It is not a watch schema and not a vs-page. Sibling chip hub: /vr/apple-vision-pro-m2/. Spatial-class peer: /vr/samsung-galaxy-xr/. Apple listing PS VR2 Sense as a spatial accessory does not make this a /vr/playstation-vr2/ game machine.
We have not worn this headset. Superlatives stay labeled as Apple claims.
Display, FOV, and what Apple does not publish
Apple specifies a 3D Micro-OLED system, 23 million pixels, 7.5-micron pitch, 92% DCI-P3, and 90 / 96 / 100 / 120 Hz. Per-eye width × height is not on Support 125436 or apple.com/specs. Field of view in degrees is not on those pages.
Do not fill this hub with review FOV numbers. A later vs-page can still say “Quest 3’s compare page claims 110° horizontal; Apple does not publish a degree.”
Passthrough and cameras
Apple describes a stereoscopic 3D main camera (18 mm, ƒ/2.00, 6.5 stereo megapixels) plus six world-facing tracking cameras, TrueDepth, and LiDAR. That is the OEM capture/tracking list. Apple does not publish a passthrough PPD here. Do not invent a “Vision Pro beats Quest 3 18 PPD” verdict from pixels alone.
Input, controllers, and tether
Default input is hands, eyes, and voice. The box does not include an Apple 6DoF controller pair. Support lists Logitech Muse and PlayStation VR2 Sense as spatial accessories, plus keyboards, trackpads/mice, and game controllers.
pc_tether is standalone. Vision Pro is not a PS5, not SteamVR, and not Meta Link. If you need a DisplayPort headset, that is a different product.
IPD, weight, battery
- IPD: 51–75 mm.
- Weight: 750–800 g including Light Seal and Dual Knit Band; battery 353 g separate. Quote the footnote.
- Battery: up to 2.5 hours general use, 3 hours video, usable while charging (Aug–Sep 2025 Apple test footnote).
The M2 hub uses a shorter OEM hour table and a different weight sentence. Cross-link; do not merge the rows.
Software, age, price
Launch OS family is visionOS. Users must be 13 or older. US shop on 19 September 2026: from $3,699, ZEISS inserts $99.00. Date both again before you quote them in a vs-page.

Frequently asked questions
Is this “Vision Pro 2”?
Apple has not named a Vision Pro 2 on Support. The current pair is Apple Vision Pro (M2) A2117 (2024) and Apple Vision Pro (M5) A3416 (2025). This hub is the M5 slug only.
What is the FOV?
Apple does not publish a field-of-view degree on the cited spec pages. We do not invent one.
How does weight compare to the 2024 Vision Pro?
M5: 750–800 g including Light Seal and Dual Knit Band. M2: 600–650 g with a different “Light Seal and head band configuration” sentence. Do not write a 150 g delta as a raw fact. See /vr/apple-vision-pro-m2/.
Does it play PlayStation VR2 games?
No. Apple lists the PS VR2 Sense controller as a supported spatial accessory. That is not PS5 game compatibility.
Is $3,699 a street price?
It is Apple’s “Buy from $3,699” line on the US shop page on 19 September 2026. Storage tiers, inserts, AppleCare, and tax are separate. Re-check the store.
