GadgetShowdown publishes product guides and head-to-head comparisons for people choosing between specific gadgets. This page explains where our information comes from, how a page is put together and what we don’t claim.
Who publishes this site

Where the information comes from
Unless a page says otherwise, our guides and comparisons are based on:
- Makers’ specifications: tech specs, support documents and manuals from the brands (Apple, Samsung, Google, Sony, Garmin, Meta, Valve, ASUS, Lenovo, Nintendo and others).
- Official announcements and feature pages, for feature names, software support and release dates.
- Other public information, cross-checked against the maker’s own pages before we rely on it.
- Dated price checks: when we quote a price, we say what it is, such as a launch price or a store price, and when we checked it. Prices change quickly.
Our guides and comparisons cite their sources, with the date we checked them.
We may use AI tools to help draft outlines and text. A person is responsible for checking the numbers against the sources before a page is published or substantially updated, and AI is never a source for a spec or a measurement.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run a test lab, and we don’t present makers’ figures as our own measurements.
- We don’t make up measurements, such as noise-cancelling decibels, battery rundown charts or camera scores.
- We don’t copy star ratings from other sites and publish them as ours.
- We don’t claim hands-on testing unless a page says we had the device in hand and describes what we did.
How a page is built
Product guides open with “In short”: who should get the product, what decides it, and who should skip it and what to get instead. Then come the key specs in a table, the sections that matter for that kind of product, common questions and the sources.
Comparisons name both products in the title and answer the question first, with both prices. A verdict says who should buy each one. Then come a side-by-side spec table, what’s different, what’s the same, the price and the questions buyers ask.
Guides and comparisons are grouped by category: Watches, Phones, Earbuds, Headphones, Fitness rings, Smart glasses, VR headsets, Laptops, Tablets and Handheld gaming.
Last verified dates
A Last verified date means a person checked the page’s maker figures and any prices against the cited sources on or around that date. Firmware, prices and models change; when something important changes, we update the page.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email us through Contact with the page link and, if you can, a link to the maker’s page. We fix factual mistakes, and for a significant change we prefer a dated note on the page to a silent rewrite.
