In short
Tab S8 is the February 2022 $699.99 leftover 11-inch TFT flagship: 4nm octa-core, in-box BLE S Pen, Wi-Fi 6E, 8000 mAh. Buy leftover if you want the last 11-inch S tablet before IP68. Skip it if you want current S11 silicon or S8+ / Ultra canvas.
Who it is for
- Leftover shoppers who want the 2022 11-inch Galaxy Tab S with an in-box BLE S Pen, Wi-Fi 6E, and microSD 1TB before the IP68 S9 redesign.
- People comparing S8 vs S9 vs S11 on panel (LTPS TFT vs Dynamic AMOLED 2X), ingress (no IP code vs IP68), and US start ($699.99 vs $799.99 vs later S11).
Who should skip it
- Anyone who wants the current 11-inch flagship. That is Galaxy Tab S11.
- Buyers who want 12.4- or 14.6-inch S8 canvas. Those are Tab S8+ / S8 Ultra.
- People who want a published IP68 rating. Samsung’s first IP68 Tab S is Tab S9.
Key differentiators
- 11-inch LTPS TFT, 2560 × 1600, 276 ppi, up to 120 Hz — not Super AMOLED. S8+ / Ultra are Super AMOLED.
- First Galaxy tablet series Samsung says supports Wi-Fi 6E (Newsroom).
- In-box BLE S Pen; side-key fingerprint (not FOD). Chargers sold separately.
- Newsroom processor row is “4nm 64-bit Octa-Core Processor.” Do not invent Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from a review.
Caveats
- 15-hour video, 80-minute 45W charge, and “fastest processor ever in a Galaxy Tab” are Samsung claims. We have not lab-tested Tab S8.
- Peak nits are not on the Global/Mobile Press tables we pulled. Do not invent 500/800 from a later FE sheet.
- Samsung product photography is not hosted here.
