In short

Surface Go 4 is the September 2023 10.5-inch Windows frontline slate: N200, 8GB, 350-nit PixelSense, pen and Type Cover sold separately. Buy leftover if you want a compact Windows kickstand tablet. Skip it if you want 13-inch Surface Pro or an iPad mini.

Who it is for

  • Leftover / frontline shoppers who want a 10.5-inch Windows 11 Pro kickstand tablet with Type Cover and Surface Pen paths, not an iPad mini.
  • IT buyers who need a Secured-core PC, TPM 2.0, and Windows Hello face in a 521 g slab.
  • People comparing Go 4 vs Surface Pro 10 / 11th Edition on size (10.5 vs 13) and silicon (N200 vs Core Ultra / Snapdragon).

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who wants a 13-inch Surface Pro. That is Surface Pro 10 or Surface Pro (11th Edition).
  • Buyers who want iPadOS, an in-box stylus, or a 120 Hz / 600-nit panel. Go 4 Store/fact sheet is 350 nits typical; refresh is not published.
  • People who need a published 5G SKU. The Store spec we pulled is Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.1.

Key differentiators

  • 10.5-inch PixelSense, 1920 × 1280, 220 ppi, 3:2, 1500:1 contrast, 350 nits typical, Gorilla Glass 3.
  • Intel Processor N200; Intel UHD Graphics; 8GB LPDDR5 on every published SKU; UFS 64/128/256GB.
  • USB-C 3.1 (data, DisplayPort, charging), microSDXC, 3.5 mm headphone jack, Type Cover port, Surface Connect.
  • Designed for Surface Pen / Classroom Pen 2 / Business Pen with integrated magnetic storage; Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP).

Caveats

  • 12.5-hour typical-use battery is a Microsoft claim. A Wh figure is on some secondary rundowns — we only print hours unless the fact sheet/Store states Wh. The fact sheet we pulled lists hours, not Wh.
  • A US launch dollar start is not in the Devices Blog / fact sheet we pulled. Do not paste a reviewer’s $579.99 as OEM MSRP.
  • Keyboard and pen are sold separately.
  • Microsoft product photography is not hosted here.

Overview

Surface Go 4 for Business is Microsoft’s September 2023 10.5-inch frontline slate. The job-to-be-done is “compact Windows + kickstand + optional Type Cover,” not “iPad mini” and not “13-inch Surface Pro.”

We have not used this tablet. 12.5-hour typical-use and “up to 4.5 times more performance than the original Surface Go” lines stay Microsoft claims.

Display, chip, speakers

PixelSense LCD, 1920 × 1280, 220 ppi, 350 nits typical. Refresh is not published — we do not invent 60 Hz. Intel Processor N200 + 8GB LPDDR5 + UFS 64/128/256GB. Speakers are 2W stereo with Dolby Audio Premium; mics are dual far-field Studio.

Stylus, keyboard, ports

stylus is Surface Pen / Classroom Pen 2 / Business Pen, sold separately, with magnetic storage on the slab. keyboard is Type Cover, sold separately. ports add USB-C 3.1, microSDXC, a 3.5 mm jack, and Surface Connect — keep those extras off the first table.

Battery

Up to 12.5 hours typical device usage. Store Battery Capacities: Nominal 29 Wh / Min 28 Wh. In-box 24W Power Supply; Fast Charging needs 60W or higher, sold separately.
