In short

Legion Go is the big-screen Windows handheld: 8.8-inch 1600p 144Hz, detachable controllers, kickstand/FPS mouse features, and a 49.2Wh pack. Buy it for the tablet-plus-controllers shape and the 2560×1600 sheet. Skip it if you want SteamOS trackpads, Ally X’s 80Wh, or a sub-650g integrated Deck/Ally chassis.

Who it is for

  • Windows buyers who want an 8.8-inch 2560×1600 144Hz panel instead of a 7-inch 1080p or 7.4-inch 800p sheet.
  • People who specifically want detachable controllers, a kickstand, FPS mode, and a right-controller mouse wheel / touchpad.
  • Shoppers comparing a dual-USB4 tablet handheld against Deck and Ally integrated grips.
  • Used / leftover 8APU1 buyers matching the 49.2Wh / 16GB LPDDR5X-7500 sheet.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who wants a light integrated handheld. PSREF: under 854g with controllers; gamepad under 640g.
  • SteamOS-first buyers. 8APU1 ships Windows 11 Home. (Later Legion Go S SteamOS notes are a different SKU.)
  • People who need Ally X’s 80Wh capacity row.
  • Nintendo-first players.

Key differentiators

  • 8.8-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS, 16:10, 144Hz, 500 nits, 97% DCI-P3, Gorilla Glass 5 — the largest first-table panel in this handheld set.
  • Detachable TrueStrike controllers, kickstand, FPS mode switch, right-controller touchpad and mouse wheel.
  • 49.2Wh with Super Rapid Charge (datasheet: 10 min → 30%, 30 min → 70%, 80 min → 100%).
  • Dual USB4 40Gbps with DP 1.4 and PD 3.0, plus microSD (datasheet: up to 2TB).

Caveats

  • This hub is **8APU1 Legion Go**, not Legion Go Gen 2 (8ASP2 / Z2 Extreme / OLED) or Legion Go S. Do not mix those sheets.
  • PSREF lists Z1 and Z1 Extreme. This page’s default SoC row is Z1 Extreme; call out Z1 if a SKU is 6-core.
  • Battery-life hours on PSREF are MobileMark / video / controller figures, not a Valve-style “gameplay 3–12 hours” row.
  • US $699 start is the 2023 launch band (StoryHub / US retail). Street leftover prices go stale.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Legion Go Gen 2?

No. This hub is original 8APU1 (Z1 / Z1 Extreme, 1600p IPS, 49.2Wh). Go 2 is `/handhelds/lenovo-legion-go-2/`. Go S is `/handhelds/lenovo-legion-go-s/`.

SteamOS or Windows?

8APU1 ships Windows 11 Home. Lenovo’s separate SteamOS install notes for Legion Go S are not this SKU.

Does Legion Go have trackpads?

A small right-controller touchpad, plus a mouse wheel / FPS mode. It is not Deck’s dual 32.5mm haptic pads.

How heavy is it?

PSREF: less than 640g gamepad-only; less than 854g with controllers.

What TDP does Lenovo publish?

Not as a single Ally-style 9–30W row on the PSREF blocks we cited. Keep the key and write Not published.
