What the two Sony sheets actually change
XM6 is the 15 May 2025 US launch at $449.99. XM5 is the 12 May 2022 US launch at $399.99. Both hubs keep a 30 mm neodymium driver. The generation fork is processor, codecs, Bluetooth version, and whether the cups fold — not a new music-hour table.
ANC and awareness (OEM wording only)
XM6’s first table is HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3, Adaptive NC Optimizer, and atmospheric-pressure optimizing. Sony’s US product page still markets “best noise cancellation” with a dated IEC-style footnote — treat that as OEM marketing, not a GadgetShowdown ranking.
XM5’s first table is Sony noise canceling with Ambient Sound Mode on the QN1 / Integrated Processor V1 generation. Do not paste QN3 onto XM5.
