Overview
Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the September 2025 Ultra. Apple’s own 2025 framing was “the most advanced Apple Watch,” with satellite communications, a 42-hour battery table, and the same 49mm Grade 5 titanium chassis Ultra 4 later kept. The physical product is still a single 49mm watch — 49 × 44 × 12mm, sapphire front, Action Button, Digital Crown, side button, depth gauge, and dual speakers — in natural or black.
This page is the leftover Ultra 3 record from Support 125095 — not a renamed Ultra 4 page.

Display and outdoor-facing hardware
Apple specifies an Always-On Retina display with wide-angle OLEDs and LTPO3, 422 × 514 at 326 ppi, 1Hz refresh, 3,000 nits peak and 1 nit minimum, under flat sapphire. Night Mode is called out for Modular Ultra, Wayfinder, and Orienteering. Dual speakers and a three-mic array with wind-noise mitigation sit in the same chassis as the siren.
The pixel grid and 3,000-nit peak match Ultra 4 on Apple’s sheets. Ultra 4 is not a brighter panel. The upgrade versus Ultra 1 (2,000 nits, 410 × 502) is on the Ultra 1 vs Ultra 4 and Ultra 1 vs Ultra 3 pages.
Health sensors (not Health Sensing System)
Ultra 3 lists a third-generation optical heart sensor, electrical heart sensor, Blood Oxygen, ECG, wrist temperature, hypertension notifications, sleep-apnea notifications, Sleep score, and Cycle Tracking. That is a full 2025 Ultra health stack. It is not the named Health Sensing System (5-second background HR, 60× / 24× marketing) on Ultra 4 and Series 12.
Sleep tracking
Support 125095 names a Sleep app with stages, a Sleep score, and sleep-apnea notifications. The 5-minute charge ≈ 8 hours of sleep-tracking claim lives in the charging footnote (Ultra 4’s later sheet says 10 hours from 5 minutes).

Support 125095 gives the same five dedicated blocks Ultra 4 later kept: running (including power and Precision Start on the Action Button), hiking (U.S. topo / 63 parks), cycling (Bluetooth power meters / FTP), swimming (SWOLF, kickboard, water temperature), and recreational diving to 40m. “More Workouts” includes skiing, snowboarding, outdoor rowing, paddling, and golf.

Does Ultra 3 get watchOS 27?
Yes. Apple’s Series 12 Newsroom lists watchOS 27 for Apple Watch Series 9 or later, SE 3, and Ultra 2 or later. Ultra 3 is on that list. Do not invent an end-of-life year.
Does Ultra 3 have Health Sensing System or Max Extended Workout?
No. Those names are on Ultra 4 / Series 12. Ultra 3’s spec sheet lists third-generation optical HR and the 42 / 72-hour table. Support 125095 does not print an outdoor-workout hour or Max Extended Workout.
Does Ultra 3 work without an iPhone?
