In short

Series 9 is the 2023 41/45mm everyday Watch: S9, 18 / 36-hour OEM table, 2,000-nit Always-On LTPO (not LTPO3), stainless steel instead of titanium, and double tap. It is still on watchOS 27. Series 10 moved to 42/46mm, wide-angle LTPO3, and a 30-minute 80% charge. Buy leftover Series 9 only if the discount is real. Skip it if you want Series 12’s Health Sensing System or Ultra hardware.

Who it is for

  • iPhone owners shopping a three-gens-back Series ticket who want ECG, Blood Oxygen, double tap, and watchOS 27 on a 41/45mm case.
  • Series 8 owners who want S9, 64GB, on-device Siri, and a 2,000-nit Always-On panel — and will accept the 18-hour table.
  • Buyers already in the Apple Watch / iPhone Xs-or-later stack who will charge every night.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who wants Health Sensing System, readiness, Audio Intelligence, or Series 11/12’s 24 / 38-hour table.
  • Anyone who wants the 42/46mm wide-angle LTPO3 case. Series 9 is 41/45mm and 10.7mm thick.
  • Anyone who wants Ultra hardware. No Action Button, no 100m / 40m dive path, no satellite, no 3,000-nit Ultra panel.
  • Buyers without a compatible iPhone. Support 111833 requires iPhone Xs or later with iOS 17 or later. Current watchOS may require a newer iOS — re-check Apple.

Key differentiators

  • Last 41/45mm Series on watchOS 27. Series 8 is off that list; Series 10 redesigned the case to 42/46mm.
  • S9 + 64GB + double tap + on-device Siri. Fast charge on this leftover sheet is ~80% in about 45 minutes — Series 10/11 print ~30 minutes.
  • Leftover Support 111833 now prints hypertension notifications, sleep score, and sleep-apnea notifications (later software). Quote the live sheet; do not pretend those were 2023 launch rows.
  • Stainless steel option (gold / silver / graphite), not titanium. Series 10 replaced steel with Grade 5 titanium.

Caveats

  • Every numeric battery and brightness line is an Apple claim. GadgetShowdown has not lab-tested Series 9.
  • apple.com/apple-watch-series-9/ 301s to apple.com/watch/ as of 19 September 2026. Cite Support 111833.
  • Pixel grid and sq mm are not on leftover 111833. Do not invent 352×430 / 396×484 from memory or retailer bullets.
  • Do not copy Series 10’s 42/46mm grams, 6m depth, 5G RedCap, or 30-minute 80% charge onto this hub.

Overview

Apple Watch Series 9 is the September 2023 everyday Watch — the last 41/45mm Series still on watchOS 27. The leftover Support sheet (111833) is the live OEM source after apple.com/apple-watch-series-9/ started 301ing to apple.com/watch/. The physical product is a 41mm or 45mm aluminum or stainless steel watch, 10.7mm thick, with Digital Crown, side button, third-generation optical HR, and an electrical ECG path. There is no Action Button and no depth gauge.

This hub exists so leftover Series writers can cite Support 111833 instead of blending Series 10’s 42/46mm case onto 2023 hardware. The first table is watches-v1.

We do not claim we wore this watch.

Display

Always-On LTPO OLED (not wide-angle LTPO3), 326 ppi, up to 2,000 nits / 1 nit minimum. Ion-X on aluminum; sapphire on stainless steel. Active-area sq mm and pixel grid are unpublished on leftover 111833.

Sleep tracking

Sleep + score + apnea on the live leftover sheet. We have not measured a night.

Frequently asked questions

Does Series 9 get watchOS 27?

Yes. Apple’s Series 12 / watchOS 27 list is Series 9 or later, SE 3, and Ultra 2 or later. Series 8 is off that list.

What is the pixel grid?

Leftover Support 111833 prints 326 ppi and does not reprint width × height or square millimeters. Do not invent a grid from retailer bullets.

Is $399 a street price?

$399 is Apple’s published US starting price on 12 September 2023. Leftover street tickets change. Re-check on the day you quote a number.

Does Series 9 have a depth gauge or 5G?

No. Support 111833 has no depth-gauge row and no 5G RedCap row. Those arrive on later Series leftover sheets.

Does Series 9 have Health Sensing System?

No. Support 111833 lists a third-generation optical heart sensor. Health Sensing System naming is Series 12 / Ultra 4.

Does the leftover sheet include sleep score and hypertension?

Yes — on Support 111833 accessed 19 September 2026. Those are later-software rows, not 2023 launch Newsroom headlines. Quote the live sheet and label them as later software.
