In short
Pro 3 is Apple’s current sealed flagship: H2, foam-infused tips, IP57 on buds and case, Hearing Test / Aid / Protection, Live Translation, and a workout heart-rate sensor. Buy it for the ANC-and-hearing stack on iPhone — not for Android codecs or a stem-only open-ear fit. The $249 US start is Apple’s published number, not a street price.
Who it is for
- iPhone owners who want Apple’s current sealed ANC flagship rather than open-ear AirPods 5 / AirPods 4.
- Buyers who will actually use Hearing Test / Hearing Aid / Hearing Protection (FDA-authorized Hearing Aid; region and age limits apply).
- People replacing AirPods Pro 2 who want the longer ANC table (8h vs 6h), IP57, five tip sizes including XXS, and the workout heart-rate sensor.
- Runners and gym users who want Apple’s in-ear heart-rate path into the iPhone Fitness app — and who accept that this is an AirPods Pro 3 extra, not an earbuds-v1 row.
Who should skip it
- Android-first buyers who want LDAC, SSC, or a first-class Google / Samsung app. Apple lists Bluetooth use on non-Apple devices with limited functionality.
- Anyone who hates silicone tips. Pro 3 is a sealed in-ear with five tip sizes; AirPods 5 / 4 remain the open-ear stem.
- Pro 2 owners who only want a small hop and already have Hearing Aid via firmware. The paid delta is the new tips / IP57 / 8-hour ANC table / heart-rate sensor — not the invention of Hearing Aid.
- Shoppers who need a $129 open-ear. That is AirPods 5, not this hub.
Key differentiators
- OEM ANC table is the longest Apple has published for Pro: up to 8 hours with ANC; Newsroom claims up to 2× Pro 2 isolation and 4× original Pro. Treat as Apple claims.
- Hearing Health stack on-device: Hearing Test, Hearing Aid (FDA-authorized), automatic Conversation Boost, Hearing Protection. Not a watch ECG clone — keep it on hearing_health / extras.
- Workout heart-rate sensor (Fitness app / compatible third-party apps, iOS 26+). Extra row — do not promote it into earbuds-v1.
- IP57 on both buds and the MagSafe USB-C case; five foam-infused tip sizes (XXS–L).
Caveats
- Every numeric battery, ANC-multiplier, and “world’s best in-ear ANC” line is an Apple claim. GadgetShowdown has not lab-tested Pro 3.
- Hearing Aid / Test / Protection are regulated, region-limited, and intended for perceived mild-to-moderate hearing loss (18+). This is not a doctor visit.
- Heart-rate sensing is for workouts with the Fitness app — Apple’s footnote, not a medical HR claim. It shortens the published listening table to 6.5 hours.
- Apple product photography is not hosted here. Third-party IP guidelines and Newsroom “editorial use” language do not give a commercial gadget site a clear redistribution license.

Overview
AirPods Pro 3 is the September 2025 sealed Pro. Apple’s own framing is “the ultimate audio experience”: H2, Adaptive Audio, Hearing Health, Live Translation, and — new in this generation — a workout heart-rate sensor and an 8-hour ANC table. The physical product is still a short-stem in-ear with silicone tips, now foam-infused and sized XXS through L, in a MagSafe USB-C case that Apple rates IP57 with the buds.
This hub exists so later earbud writers can clone one honest device record instead of re-deriving Pro 3 from vs-page drafts. The first spec table is earbuds-v1 — the same keys belong on AirPods 1, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Sony WF-1000XM5, and Pixel Buds Pro. It is not a sitewide gadget schema and it is not watches-v1. Comparison URLs stay on their own -vs- slugs under /earbuds/…. This page’s public path is locked at /earbuds/airpods-pro-3/.
We do not claim we wore these on a commute or a run. Where Apple uses superlatives (“world’s best in-ear ANC,” “up to 2× more noise than AirPods Pro 2”), we repeat the claim and point at the Newsroom / spec footnotes.
Fit, tips, and form factor
Pro 3 is a sealed in-ear. The spec sheet lists foam-infused silicone tips in XXS, XS, S, M, and L. That is the fit story versus AirPods 5 / 4 / 3 / 2 / 1, which are open-ear stems with no tips.
For comparison writers: do not write “same tips as Pro 2.” Pro 2 USB-C shipped four sizes; Pro 3 ships five and calls the tips foam-infused. Dimensions are 30.9 × 19.2 × 27.0 mm per bud, 5.55 g — close to Pro 2’s 30.9 × 21.8 × 24.0 mm / 5.3 g, not identical. Quote both sheets.
ANC, transparency, and spatial (OEM claims only)
Copy Apple’s names. Do not invent dB.
- ANC + Adaptive Audio on the first table. Newsroom’s 2× / 4× lines stay labeled as claims.
- Transparency, Conversation Awareness, Personalized Volume on the transparency row.
- Personalized Spatial Audio + Adaptive EQ on the spatial row. TrueDepth profile required; compatible content only.
- Voice Isolation and studio-quality recording sit with the microphones extra/detail — they are not a substitute for a codec list.
A Sony page keeps the same anc key and writes QN3e / Adaptive NC Optimizer. A first-gen AirPods page writes No.
Battery and charging (OEM table only)
Copy this table, do not invent rundown curves:
| Mode (Apple’s words) | Pro 3 claim |
|---|---|
| Listening with ANC | Up to 8 hours |
| Spatial Audio + head tracking | Up to 7.5 hours |
| Heart-rate sensing during workouts | Up to 6.5 hours |
| Transparency + Hearing Aid | Up to 10 hours |
| With MagSafe case, ANC | Up to 24 hours |
| Fast charge | 5 minutes in the case ≈ 1 hour |
In the box: buds, MagSafe USB-C case with speaker and lanyard loop, five tips, documentation. USB-C cable sold separately. Wireless charging is MagSafe, Watch, or Qi.
ANC, fit, and battery
anc, fit_system, and battery_buds are earbuds-v1 rows: every later earbud page should fill them, even when the OEM only publishes “IPX4” or “not listed.”
Pro 3’s fit is the foam tip + IP57 story. Battery is the 8 / 24 table. Hearing Aid in Transparency is why the 10-hour row exists — do not turn it into a measured audiology graph.
Codecs, Bluetooth, and switching
Apple printed Bluetooth 5.3 and used AAC tracks in the battery footnote. It did not print LDAC, LC3, or SSC on the spec sheet we pulled. Keep codecs and write “not published.” Automatic switching is the Apple Account behavior, not a two-device Android multipoint toggle — keep multipoint and say so.
Hearing features and what not to invent
Hearing Test, Hearing Aid, Hearing Protection, and Loud Sound Reduction belong on hearing_health because later Pro 2 / Pro 3 / (maybe) other OEM pages need the same slot. A Sony or first-gen AirPods page writes “Not published” or that brand’s Hearing Wellness name.
FDA authorization, 18+, mild-to-moderate, region lists: copy the footnote. Live Translation is an extra because it is Apple Intelligence + iPhone software, not a driver spec.
Software, Find My, and compatibility
Full features: latest Apple OS family. Find My on the case speaker; UWB is second-generation in the case. Apple’s 2026 footnote on the spec sheet we pulled says Find My functionality requires iOS 27 or later — quote it, do not invent an older floor.
Camera remote is iOS 26+ with AirPods Pro 2 and later. That is an extra.
Price and SKUs
US start is $249 (Newsroom, 9 September 2025). Engraving is free at Apple. Year introduced 2025 on Support 125135.
Do not invent independent scores, Amazon star averages, or “we wore them for a week.” If you need a winner against Pro 2 or XM6, that is a future /earbuds/…-vs-…/ page — this hub only describes one product.

Frequently asked questions
What is actually new versus AirPods Pro 2?
Apple’s spec sheets and Newsroom point to foam-infused tips (five sizes), IP57 on buds and case, a longer ANC listening table (8h vs Pro 2’s 6h), workout heart-rate sensing, and stronger ANC claims (up to 2× Pro 2). Hearing Test / Aid / Protection already landed on Pro 2 via firmware — do not write those as Pro-3-only. H2 is shared with Pro 2 and AirPods 4 / 5.
Does Pro 3 work without an iPhone?
As Bluetooth headphones, yes, with limited functionality. Hearing Aid, Live Translation, Personalized Spatial Audio, Find My precision, and automatic switching sit inside Apple’s OS matrix. Do not describe Pro 3 as a first-class Android bud.
Is the $249 price a street price?
No. $249 is Apple’s published US starting price on 9 September 2025. Engraving, AppleCare, education pricing, and retailer discounts are separate. Re-check apple.com on the day you quote a number.
Does Pro 3 replace a hearing aid from a clinic?
No. Apple’s Hearing Aid feature is FDA-authorized for perceived mild-to-moderate hearing loss in people 18 or older, on listed regions and OS versions. We repeat the intended-use sentence. We do not give medical advice.
Where does workout heart rate belong?
On the extras table (`heart_rate_workouts`), not in earbuds-v1. Most earbuds — including AirPods 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 and Sony WF-1000XM5 — do not publish an in-ear HR sensor. Keep the first table aligned.
Did Apple publish a codec list?
Not on the Pro 3 spec sheet we pulled on 19 September 2026. Battery footnotes use 256 kbps AAC test tracks. Keep the codecs row and write “not published” rather than inventing LDAC.
Is the USB-C cable in the box?
No. Apple’s spec sheet says the USB-C charge cable is sold separately. The box is buds, MagSafe USB-C case with speaker and lanyard loop, five tip sizes, and documentation.
